SDF links with postgrad on membership research

The Scottish Decorators’ Federation (SDF) is linking with a postgraduate to find out how the organisation can add value for existing members and attract a new generation of decorators.

The research will be undertaken as part of Chinese postgraduate Yunwei Zhang’s dissertation for her MSc in Marketing at Strathclyde University.

It will focus on analysing membership benefits and service provision, how to increase engagement with current members and appeal to the younger generation, particularly through digital media.

As part of the work, Ms Zhang will be contacting SDF members and other key players from the industry to get their input for a survey in the summer.

Ian Rogers, Chief Executive of the SDF said: “We’re always working hard to deliver services that our members like, need and that add value to their business. Like any other Federation, we’re looking at how best to attract and engage with new and current members – and appeal to younger professionals who communicate differently. This research will provide us with that crucial data because we simply can’t afford to be left behind, which is why we’ve also recently updated our website and now have a presence on Facebook.”
