PPG pays respects to Leslie Silver

PPG Architectural Coatings UK & Ireland has conveyed its condolences to the family of Leslie Silver, OBE who died recently at the age of 89.

Mr Silver was the founder of Silver Paint and Lacquer Company Ltd in 1947, which was renamed Kalon in 1981. In 1983 the company moved to its current premises in Birstall and later became part of PPG Industries, which it is still proudly part of today.

PPG Architectural Coatings UK & Ireland’s general manager Steve Pocock, said: “Mr Silver was an integral figure in the UK paint industry for more than 40 years, as well as demonstrating his versatility by also later becoming Leeds United’s chairman at the same time. Later in his career, he became the first chancellor of Leeds Metropolitan University. Everyone at PPG UK & Ireland is aware of his vital role in the ongoing success of this business and our thoughts are with his family.”
