PPG Golf Master ‘putts’ decorators through their paces

Global coatings manufacturer, PPG Architectural Coatings EMEA UK and Ireland, has hosted its sixth consecutive PPG Golf Masters tournament, giving professional decorators the chance to follow in the footsteps of golfing greats.

The competition culminated in the final at the prestigious former Ryder Cup venue of Valderrama in southern Spain, one of the best in Europe.

Throughout the early summer more than 700 budding golfers took part in a dozen regional heats, which were held at some of the most challenging golf courses in the UK and Ireland to determine who would earn a place in the final.

The lucky Valderrama finalists enjoyed luxury five-star hospitality and entertainment throughout their four-day stay at La Quinta resort. All players were also treated to the added luxury of playing Finca Cortesin, one of the best golf courses in Spain, where the prestigious Volvo Masters has previously been held.

Geoff Telford of Sublime Decor (pictured left) was declared overall champion after a tough battle between him and second place winner, Neil Sang (second left), who both had an impressive back nine. He said: “It was certainly a challenging match, but thankfully I held my nerve in the end and played the best I’ve ever played! Just taking part was a fantastic experience in itself – we all had a brilliant time and I can’t thank PPG enough for the opportunity to take part in this fabulous trip. Coming home with the trophy and title is more than I could have imagined – I’m thrilled!”

PPG’s General Manager Steve Pocock commented: “We’re really proud to see the PPG Golf Masters tournament evolve to become such a successful event, and being able to offer our loyal customers such a unique experience is what it’s all about. We’d love to see you there next year so get practising your swing!”

Johnstone’s will be launching next year’s PPG Golf Masters competition shortly, so look out for details about how to enter to make sure you’re in the running for 2015.
