Employees at PPG Architectural Coatings, which manufacturers leading paint brands Johnstone’s and Leyland, have chosen When You Wish Upon a Star to be its charity partner for 2014.
The charity, which grants wishes to children suffering from life threatening illness, was chosen following an employee vote to become PPG’s partner in the UK and Ireland and will benefit from all the funds raised by the company throughout 2014. This will include donations from events such as the prestigious Johnstone’s
The partnership will also help When You Wish Upon a Star to benefit from the national exposure provided by PPG, particularly through its 187 Johnstone’s Decorating Centres across the UK and Ireland.
Paul Dowie, PPG’s HR director, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with When You Wish Upon a Star to help wishes come true for brave and courageous young children and their families.
“Whether the money we raise and donate goes towards a trip to Disney World or the chance to meet their favourite pop star, our partnership with When You Wish Upon a Star will help to put smiles on the faces of many young people – something which makes us very proud.
“The fact that our staff played an integral role in choosing the charity is particularly important and we know everyone at PPG will take great pride in raising as much money as possible for When You Wish Upon a Star.”
The charity grants wishes to children suffering from life threatening illness and relies solely on donations and monies raised from their supporters. All children have wishes but for these children and their families that wish is so precious. Each wish brings with it the opportunity to look forward to something very special, to forget about their often painful treatments and to simply be a child for the day, creating special treasured memories.
