With the annual Johnstone’s Painter of the Year event just around the corner, last year’s Supreme Winner Simon Magill, of Magill Painting Contractors (pictured), calls on fellow decorators to get their entries in to be part of one of the industry’s most prestigious competitions.
Simon headed up a 20-strong team from Magill Painting and Decorating Contractors, who impressed judges at last year’s awards with their eye-catching work on the year-long redecoration of the new £47million Sirius and Ganton Academy in Hull. They claimed the top prize in the Health and Education category before being crowned Supreme Winner and taking home the coveted title of Johnstone’s Painter of the Year as well as a fully branded van.
Simon Magill said: “For me, even being shortlisted for the Johnstone’s Painter of the Year award demonstrates to clients that you can achieve an industry leading quality of finish, which generates confidence in your work. It’s something we’re very proud to have accomplished – we’ve not been shy about telling as many of our customers as possible all about it!
“I’d urge any painters and decorators to enter the competition. Remember that no matter how big or small the project, it’s the quality of the finish that the judges are looking at. It could be you next year!”
Over its colourful 30-year history, Johnstone’s Painter of the Year has grown to become a key event in the decorating industry’s calendar. The awards ceremony, held in May each year, offers guests the chance to meet other decorators, be inspired by the breathtaking workmanship of all the shortlisted projects and enjoy an entertaining evening with friends and peers alike.
The shortlisted projects, divided between several categories including residential, health and education, commercial and period and restoration, are carefully considered by Johnstone’s panel of technical experts.
The entries have now been shortlisted for the 2013 Johnstone’s Painter of the Year awards in May. If you have entered a project, it could be you winning the title of “Johnstone’s Painter of the Year”.
