In addition to running his own company, J & R F Suttie, Ian taught at nightschool for many years where he imparted his unbounded knowledge of graining, marbling, gilding and signwriting.
He was involved in many facets of the Federation, most notably editing the yearbook for many years.
Having sold his business to Dumbreck Decorators in 1989, Ian took a well earned rest but was always there with advice when required.
Ian was an honorary life member of the Federation and took great delight in attending the convention lunch at Dalmahoy in March last year.
To those who knew him, he will be remembered for his sense of humour which never failed him right to the end.
Ian’s beloved wife Ann predeceased him and he is survived by his two daughters, Margaret and Alison, and his son Derek, grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
